About the Free Reading Lessons

These are four intermediate-level reading lessons that you are free to copy.  The formatting changed quite a lot when I converted the files to HTML.  The biggest problem is the Conversation section at the end did not upload because of the graphics.  I’ll try to fix them in the near future.

Two of the stories come from an email newsletter called, Heroic Stories.  The main site is at http://www.HeroicStories.com The editor is Randy Cassingham.  I haven’t gotten permission from him to post these on the eTLC website.  I did get permission from him to use some stories when I originally wrote the reading lessons.  At the time, they were part of a reading book I was planning to write.  Unfortunately, none of the majors were interested in it.

Eventually, I’m going to write eight more lessons.  Then I’ll get them put together as a locally-published text.  Until then, please feel free to try them out.

By the way, if you have time, check out Heroic Stories.  They are just about the right length to use for language classes, plus the content of the stories is motivational, and they are written in plain everyday language.

eTLC for Teachers

Welcome to the English Teacher and Learner Cooperative (eTLC). We are a non-commercial organization the purposes of which are to provide English learners in Japan with the opportunities to develop and practice their knowledge of English, and to provide teachers of English in Japan with opportunities to help English learners in that development and practice. We hope that information on this site will help provide the means through which these purposes can be accomplished.
