This is very original and different...I love the feel of Charles being an expatriate in Tokyo, it brings a lot to the story. The plot moves along in a mysterious, slithering way, kind of like a lizard
Now that it is available, we can all find out!

If you weren't paranoid about your integrated webcam before, this taut thriller/chiller will make you think twice. My webcam is now safely covered up until I choose to use it just in case. Kenneth Wayne builds up the plot and the tension very well indeed and before you know it you are drawn into Journeyman's bewildering world, trying to work out what is and isn't real. If you are looking for a more accessible Gibson-esque piece of entertainment then here it is.
The worst nightmare

An excellent, catchy opening, followed by just enough speculation about what really happened to keep us hooked. I particularly liked the list of suggested possibilities, including that Charles Journeyman is actually 'an inter-dimensional reptilian humanoid.' This is a book which amuses as well as interests. Charles' chat with Ken, his interaction with the barmaid, his telephone conversation with James Wharton and the request for his autograph in the Chinese restaurant, all maintain a light, amusing atmosphere, while moving the story on with enough speed to keep us reading. The interview with Jackie, and its outcome, are particularly good. Kenneth Wayne's style is excellent, with short sentences and chapters making for a fast pace, realistic dialogue, and an individual narrative voice. This book is marked for success.

This is another Charles Journeyman novel.
Knowing this character already from American Branch, it made me smile at how little he'd changed. He still has a borderline addiction to sex, hot girls, deep throating, and into taking illegal substances.
So if anything, I was reading it thinking *typical bloke*, as I watch (like a voyeur) his life turn into psychological torture when he somehow appears in a *gone viral with a wealthy heiress* porno video. This threatens his career, even though it's impossible for him to have been the man in the video, he oddly remembers it happening, even though he lives in Japan and she lives in LA.
Blackmailed into shagging the fattest chick on earth holding his income and employment hostage over his head, little does he realise who his new drug partner and lover really is. This is such an intricately woven hornets nest of characters. They all want something from him, and he has no idea he's constantly being set up when he goes digging for the truth. People magically *vanish* from his life, including the fat chick with a wealth of porno movies under the proverbial belt.
The plot deals with shapeshifting which has been proposed by authors like David Icke. The reptilian agenda is brought up in this novel, but instead of it feeling unrealistic and far fetched, Wayne has managed to make this a living breathing nightmare, which has Charles running for his life.
Drugged - he can't separate reality from hallucination, when the walls come crashing down around him, and the truth of the blue aura and Indigo children comes smashing into his life. Within a day he's in a living hell, and being psychologically abused and degraded in a secret government facility (which the laws now protect oddly enough). The fact that this could be you! - is the scariest thought of all. In this thriller the author has made it plausible and believable that this nightmare could happen to anyone. It's enough to make you paranoid, unwilling to trust public communication, the internet, or webcams.
Don't trust your employer, your lover, or your best friend.
Yes, if you let it, this thriller will mess with your head and freak you out.
You could be next, and nothing can prepare you for this ride.
